Greening of Historic Properties Initiative
The Green Building Alliance and the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation, collaborating with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, presented the “Greening of Historic Properties National Summit” in 2006. The conference was the first discussion in a national forum of the greening of historic buildings.
The summit brought together experts in both green building and historic preservation. Through a series of roundtable discussions, participants explored the ways in which green building is affecting the preservation of historic buildings and the conflicts between green building standards and historic preservation guidelines. The summit’s goal was a fresh approach based on the common ground they share.
